Looking for the Breakfast of Champions?

This is no ordinary, run-of-the-mill bagel, which was only selling for a limited time and required 24 hours notice. Here’s the description in last year’s Reuters article:

“The pricey bagel, that is topped with white truffle cream cheese and goji berry infused Riesling jelly with golden leaves…”

If you’re like me and unsure of what’s what:
The Truffle is in all the pictures, especially the 2nd one. It’s the brown vegetable-looking thing next to the bagel. Goji berries are in the bowl in the 4th picture and atop the bagel in the 3rd. The golden leaves are in all the pictures, but it looks like a sheet in the 2nd photo.

I just did a “price check”. Edible gold leaves are selling for $15,000 per pound, while white truffles are $6,000+ a pound. Maybe this $1,000 bagel was a golden deal after all. 🙂
