World’s Most Expensive Chocolate – La Madeline

It’s August, so you have 5 months to save up to buy this chocolate for your valentine. $250. Not for a box of chocolate, but one truffle. And no, there are no gold specks in it.

Knipschildt’s La Madeline’s ingredients consist of 70% Valrhona dark chocolate, heavy cream, sugar, truffle oil, and vanilla. Apparently it’s the rare Perigord truffle and the process of making it that makes it pricey. The ganache is whipped repeatedly and folded by hand, then chilled. They’re handmade, and will ship out within 14 days after order is placed. You’ll have to enjoy it immediately because the shelf life is only 7 days. Mmm, sounds like a rare decadent treat indeed. This is on my list if I win the lottery.
