Desserts for Valentine’s Day (Dessert #9)
Boy did I have a difficult time finding Babycakes in Hillcrest (San Diego)! Surely it had something to do with its parking lot situated in front of the building, which is indeed a rarity in Hillcrest. As most San Diegans know, parking in Hillcrest is mainly along the street (if you’re lucky!) or in one of the centralized lots where it’ll cost you a few dollars.
And that wasn’t the only peculiarity because the name of this cake is “Blood Orange Cake”. Cool name, huh?
It’s a simple white cake with blueberries, raspberries, and orange zest. Cream cheese frosting on the top and in between the layers totally complements the fruity flavor. If you like berries, then this one’s for you!
