World’s Most Expensive Dessert

Let’s start with the price tag.
As much as I love strawberries, if I hypothetically had a million dollars ($1.4M to be exact!) in pocket change, I wouldn’t try this jewel of a dessert. Don’t get me wrong, it’s absolutely gorgeous!
Marinated strawberries served with fresh mint and cream provide the backdrop for a 4.7-carat pink diamond ring. I guess the main draw would be a keepsake (the ring!) and bragging rights. Hmmm…I changed my mind. I’d definitely go for it, but only if I had $1.4 million lying around.
No word if anyone ponyed up for this one-time only dessert. I wonder if the restaurant considered putting an ad up on Ebay? LOL.

At first glance, Strawberries Arnaud at the 90-year old Arnaud’s restaurant in New Orleans French Quarter looks like a regular bowl of sliced fruit. Except that this dessert is garnished with a one-of-a-kind 4.7-carat pink diamond ring, once belonging to the famous English financier Sir Ernest Cassel. It’s accompanied by white-gloved waiters pouring rare port from a $24,850 Charles X crystal cave liqueur set—compliments of the chef!—in the presence of a jazz ensemble.
Gimmicky? Of course. Outrageous? You bet. But at $1.4 million, Strawberries Arnaud easily takes the cake as the planet’s most expensive dessert.
