I’ve already shown you my favorite park AND favorite Taco Bell here in Memphis. Jump on the Riverfront Loop Trolley and you’re in for a real treat (I often do!). In San Diego, where I grew up, my 3 favorite places are Mission Bay Park, Coronado, and Harbor Island.
I’m here to add one more fave. The most stunning building here in Memphis is the Kress Building.
This building was once a five-and-dime type store, which opened in 1927 and closed in 1994

…A stone’s throw from Court Square
The decorative terra cotta façade is absolutely gorgeous
It was renovated in 2004-2005 (to the tune of $6 million)
And is now an annex to the Marriott SpringHill Suites (a pedestrian crosswalk connects both buildings)
My next post will be something I’m terribly missin’.
