Over a year ago, Chip and I had gone out on our first date in Austin. We had just finished touring all four floors of the Texas State Capitol, and were ready for some Greek food a few blocks away (lunch was mutually decided early-on), followed by dessert on 6th Street.
My sweetie’s order: Chicken Sandwich & Salad No tomatoes and red onion (something I quickly learned he always nixes)
Gyro Sandwich, hold the onions, please
A meal isn’t complete without desserts (:p), so we walked a block over to this swanky hotel (built in 1886) on 6th Street…
The Driskill Hotel
Adorable old-timey car out front
Inside the 1886 Cafe & Bakery at The Driskill Hotel…
Bar
We shared two desserts…
1886 Chocolate Cake Heritage Society of Austin’s Original Recipe, served with Homespun Vanilla Ice Cream
Chocolate Croissant Yummm!
We tried walking off all the calories afterwards. LOL.
PS: I know of another hotel that serves-up enticing sweets…
