REVIEW: Opera Cake

After looking at all my choices in the display case at St. Tropez Bakery and Bistro in Hillcrest, I was surprised by the presentation of this wonderful Opera Cake when it was brought before me.  Drizzled chocolate and confectioners’ sugar served as the backdrop.  I almost felt guilty tarnishing such a beautiful presentation, keyword = almost.  In a New York minute, I got over it.

The restaurant’s decor wasn’t anything I had ever seen before. I, for one, occasionally enjoy eating outside (especially in San Diego!), and the painted clouds and trees on the ceilings made the whole dining experience very serene.
