It’s a brand-spankin’ new year.  That means “out with the old, in with the new”.  Time for a new direction, goals or pursuits.

Lots happen when January rolls around.  Super Bowl is this comin’ Sunday!   Have you replaced your 2008 calendars yet? Started a new fitness routine? Implemented any New Year’s resolutions?

Aside from walking off the extra pounds, I’d say my one real goal is getting through my stack of books collecting dust. I am bound and determined to read one book each month (whether that really happens remains to be seen, LOL)! *Hmm, note to self: Maybe have a book giveaway?!*

  6. This year I would like to finish a lot of our partially completed home repair projects. Our bathroom currently has no cabinet doors, The garage is a disaster, and the dining room really needs to be painted, to name a few.

    My goal this year is to have a moderately clean house on a normal basis. Not kidding. I’m a messie to begin with and now have three boys. It’s a challenge. Not doing so good right now cause of allergies and feeling crappy. But doing better than I was two weeks ago.

  29. What project? We are fixing the floors in our home and putting the house on the market. Who knows what ‘projects’ the new home will hold. :)

  32. My goal this year has been to stick to the resolution I make every year to lose weight, eat healthy and exercise. So far so good, the longest I have even gone and now that I am seeing and feeling results, I think I may actually do it this time.

  33. One of my goals for this year goes right along with my choice. Our house is so old and needs sprucing up so I have been wanting to get every room in the house repainted. the only one I have left is the living room and hallway and I would need that Home Depot Gift card to do it, so that’s my choice.

  34. My plan for this year is to get a job - after 10 years out of the market. It all starts on Monday when I begin a 6 week college course and co-op geared to freshening up my office/computer skills.

  62. Nt goal this year is to lose 25 pounds before my daughter’s October wedding. I plan to accomplish this by cutting calories and doing some exercise. I’m also planning on doing 2 hours of housework a day hoping this helps with the weight loss.

  69. Well, I have several things I’d like to get done to the house: carpeting, a pantry, some random woodwork. However, we have to wait to get them done when our budget allows….

    The Home Depot card would allow us to at least put something towards our project(s). Anything is a BIG help. Although, the B&N card would be GREAT, too, it just wouldn’t help us reach any of our goals.

  92. Rant On: My goal this year is to finally organize all my important papers that I’ve been throwing into Rubbermaid containers all these years. Yes, it takes me days to find the car title & registration when it comes time to renew my plates. Last year, I needed my social security card..again. It never did turn up along with the other three that are somewhere in the attic in those containers. Here’s a little factoid for you…you can only request a copy of your social security card 10 times in your life. Heck, I’m halfway there! So, to conclude, 2009 is the year of the Packrat and my goal is to oust him from my life.

  265. Goals: To lose weight, and to learn a new craft. Since the 1st, I have lost 10 pounds, and I have already learned a new craft. I am going to start learning another new craft and I am still going to lose more weight.
    I would like either the Home Depot or the Staples GC if I should win.
    At the Home Depot I will buy more energy saving light bulbs, to replace some in one room of the house that doesn’t have them. If I win the Staples card instead, well I am going to buy some good color ink for my printer. I went on-line and bought some re-fill cartridges from a site where they are supposed to save you money. Well, don’t like the color and it doesn’t last as long. Was a big waste of my money.

  340. My goal this year is to become a published writer. I write, sometimes, and in the back of my mind know that I can push myself harder and become what I’ve always wanted. Since I’m cooking up baby mnumber 2 here, I need to generate an income while staying home to be the best mommy ever.

  459. Our big goal this year to go through every box (we moved the summer of 2007), open it, make decisions on whether to toss, donate or keep and *relabled neatly* the contents of the new box. Other that than, yes, to lose weight is always on my to-do list but what I really want to do is to move more! More getting out and walking. And so far, it’s been going pretty well. Thank goodness that the mall opens early for us walkers!

    I really like P.F. Chang’s China Bistro, but the nearest one is over an hour away. Home Depot would be great for all of the projects around the house. I’m not a coffee drinker, so Starbucks would be pretty much worthless to me although they do have some great goodies. Foot Locker is great because they always have the shoes that fit me (13 EE). Staples has a lot of electronic stuff and stuff for the home/office. I’m not into watching sports (I would much rather play than watch), so ESPNShop.com wouldn’t be anything I would want. Overall, I would like to receive the Barnes & Nobel card because I always enjoy reading a good book, listening to some great music, or watching a terrific movie.

My plan for this year is to replace the carpet in our bathroom, my cat whom I’ve had for 12 years had to undergo expensive radioactive iodine therapy for a hyperthyroid, she lived for one year after she was treated and she recently had to be euthanized when her kidneys failed. She had a great difficulty using her litter box as her kidneys were failing and had soiled much of the bathroom carpet, I hope to be able to have the carpet replaced from Home Depot.
