Since this past Monday was Presidents’ Day, I’m declaring this week to be “Presidents’ Week”. There’s a method to my madness. Honest!
Lemme get the ball rolling. Oh wait, here’s a big clue instead:
Any guesses as to what this post is all about?
Well………
It’s about the large building having housed 43 presidents thus far. Yep, I’m referring to the White House in Washington D.C., whose address is 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW.
Photos were taken during my 2nd trip to DC with my ex-before-last. We were at the gates facing the back of the house. Dozens also stood gazing and clicking their cameras towards this 200+ year old home, first occupied by John Adams, the 2nd President of the United States.
Backside of the White House As you can see, the groundskeepers have their work cut out for ’em :p
George Washington, the very 1st president of the United States, never lived here
Ol’ George has his own Monument, visible from anywhere and everywhere in DC.
Seeing the home where the leader of the Free World lives was exciting! I mean heavy decisions (not just by the incumbent, but visiting foreign dignitaries as well) affecting millions of lives are made there! And if that wasn’t thrilling enough, when we finally turned around to leave, we saw this:
The White House gets a direct view of both of these!
Next up will be the Jefferson Memorial. It’s my fave, and you’ll see why.
