It’s Elvis Week (Aug 10-16), and thousands of fans are likely already here in Memphis to participate in all the festivities at Graceland and downtown. In case you didn’t know, Sun Studio is where “The King” recorded his first songs (the first two were a belated birthday gift for his mom. Awwww.). The way I see it, he was “discovered” in this recording studio. 🙂

Front door of the “Birthplace of Rock and Roll” Studio was originally called “Memphis Recording Service,” and changed to “Sun Studio” in 1987
The building has a somewhat triangular shape, where the “point” is the front door
Record producer Sam Phillips opened this studio (“Memphis Recording Service”) on January 3, 1950 Sun Records label was in the same building
Besides Elvis, many legends like Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, B.B. King, Ike Turner, Roy Orbison, U2, and John Mellencamp have recorded songs (or stepped foot inside) here
Large photos can be seen on the outside.
