Cool giveaway! I’ve gotten into the habit of listening to books on CD while I drive (I check them out from the library). It’s a great way to catch back up on some of my favorites. I haven’t tried to listen to something I’ve never read before, I think that might be too difficult for me as I tend to space a bit. I am a big fan of Cormac McCarthy and The Road left me speechless. I was sooooo looking forward to the movie coming out before the holidays but it IS a bit of a downer..maybe the studio thought it would not do well during the holidays.

Okay, motherhood has taken over my life; as I pondered the what do you need when driving question I realized all of the answers pertained to my kids. I understand what you mean about The Road being hard to get through. The first time I read it, I loved it. The second time, I cried a lot and struggled to finish it. It may have been that I was at different places in my life when I read it those times, but also because there seemed to be no end to the suffering. There are a ton of people out there who love the book though, and aren’t nearly as sensitive as I am.

When I am driving, I need to have music (anything as long as I can sing along to it) and either sunglasses or the visor down (I am very light sensitive and having eyes tear up while driving doesn’t work very well.

First, thank you for telling us about the book “The Road”, written by Cormac McCarthy. I was not aware of it before today, and it sounds like a book I would love! When I am in the car I always have to have music on. Since I hate commercials on the radio, I always have my trusty CD travel collection with me so I can pick and choose my own favorite tunes and play them in my car stereo system. I also have to have my sunglasses with me, I can’t stand the sun in my eyes when I am driving! I too usually have either coffee or water with me, depending in the time of day. Lastly, I usually have my beloved Lucy with me, she is my Black Lab mix! She loves car trips and if I am not working, she is with me, wherever I go!

As far as the gift cards go, I would love a Barnes and Noble card. I live there and would love to get “The Road” with it! But, I would be happy with any of the GC’s you are offering, they are all desirable and so very much appreciated! Thank you for the opportunity to enter.

1) In the car I always have to have my cane so I can walk when I get out, and something to drink.
