REVIEW: German Chocolate Cake & Cinnamon Finger

Driving around Point Loma super late and seeing only fast foods open, imagine my thrill when I spotted a coffeehouse with the lights on! I’m sooooo not a coffee drinker, but surmised there was a good chance they’d have some kind of dessert. Being the dessertie that I am and having gawked at all the new real estate development in the area, I was ready and oh so willing for anything remotely sweet, even a candy bar would do!

The furnishings of this coffeehouse fit its name “Living Room” to a T. Artwork on the walls, a couch and a few round tables & chairs in the dining area. Yup, perfect name for this coffeehouse.

This German Chocolate Cake had beaucoup (oh wait, that’s French!) coconut. It could have easily been renamed “Coconut Chocolate Cake”. It was stereotypically grocery-store quality–not that grocery store desserts are poor quality–but I expect a coffeehouse affiliated with a local bakery to be above par. As far as the Cinnamon Finger, blame it on Sam’s Club. Their platter has ruined me for all other baklavas.
